Lukáš Jabůrek,
Czech Republic
Lukáš Jabůrek is a Czech glass artist and designer whose practice brings together traditional craftsmanship and contemporary artistic expression. Working with colour, light and the optical qualities of glass, he creates distinctive objects that explore the relationship between material, emotion and storytelling.
Curatorial Profile
Lukáš Jabůrek approaches glass as both a medium of artistic expression and a material deeply connected to Czech craftsmanship. His practice reflects a dialogue between established glassmaking traditions and contemporary design, shaped by technical precision and a distinctly personal artistic vision.
Colour, transparency and optical depth are central to his work. Through carefully considered forms and the interaction of light within the material, Jabůrek creates objects that extend beyond their decorative function. His compositions carry subtle narratives and symbolic associations, inviting viewers to discover new visual and emotional dimensions.
His artistic approach has been shaped by his experience at the renowned Moser glassworks, where he served as artistic director until 2018. Since establishing his independent studio, he has continued to explore the expressive possibilities of glass while reconnecting with the glassmaking heritage of his native Ore Mountains.
Moving between sculptural objects, collectible design and functional glassware, Jabůrek maintains a consistent emphasis on craftsmanship, individuality and the expressive potential of the material.
